Hello! My name is Chris. Initially, I came to school knowing that I needed financial assistance. My life literally flipped upside down when my mother told me she lost her job during the fall semester of 2013. This caused me to stress and contemplate on quitting school and going home to support my mother. This traumatic news caused me to have a stressful and devastating semester. Being that my mother is a single parent, it would be difficult for her to afford a roof over our head without a job. Coming out of an academically disastrous semester and into spring 2014, sent fear throughout my body. I didn’t know how I would afford this current semester. Three weeks after the semester started, I was personally notified by the financial aid coordinator of my school that I would not receive financial scholarship for this semester, which left me at a $1,100 balance. I wasn’t able to receive scholarship because I did not have a high enough GPA. If I were to withdraw from school now, I could only return in the fall as a non-degree seeking student. A non-degree seeking student cannot receive any form of financial aid, which means I could only return if I paid out of pocket as an out of state student, but if I stay this current semester, it gives me the opportunity to bring up my GPA and I will be eligible to receive scholarship in the next semester. Currently, I owe $1,100 that is due by February 7, 2014. In saying this, I thank you for taking the time to read this and any donations that you may be lead to give.
